Computers are excellent tools when it comes to scheduling events, but it doesn't mean that printed calendars are useless. Having a calendar on a wall, with marked dates, can spare you from turning on a computer and launching a scheduling program. With PrintableCal, you can create all sorts of calendars in MS Word or Excel. It comes with numerous templates and it places various customization options at your disposal.

PrintableCal is an extension for MS Word and Excel, so you must have them installed on your computer. It is available in many versions, including a free one. The extension is compatible with MS Office 2007 and all later editions and it works on Windows XP (SP3), Vista, Win 7 and Win 8.

PrintableCal doesn't come with a user interface of its own and you can't launch it separately with an executable file. It brings additional options on a new ribbon menu in Word and Excel, as well as new panels, on the right side of their interfaces. Creating a calendar is a three-step process, which is carried out on one of the aforementioned panels, where you can switch between different sets of options with Next and Back buttons.

You can choose from a wide variety of calendar templates, which are categorized in collapsible lists. PrintableCal can be also set to insert the calendar in the current document or a new one, as a picture or a table of contents. Once you decide what type of calendar to use and how to insert it, you may proceed to the next step and make a series of configurations, like setting a start month, specifying how many months to include in the calendar, setting a maximum number of rows and columns and so on.

An important feature which is definitely worth mentioning is the possibility of importing calendar data from other sources. The extension is capable of retrieving scheduled tasks and other information from a MS Exchange Server or MS Outlook, from Google Calendar or Google Tasks, Facebook, iCloud and many other sources. All you have to do is select one or more services in a drop menu and insert a URL or make other specifications on a separate window, on which you can find illustrated instructions as well.

Pros

You can generate and insert calendars in a Word document or an Excel spreadsheet. PrintableCal allows you to choose from numerous calendar templates and you can also download new ones. The best part is that it can import calendar data from other sources.

Cons

The free edition is quite limited, when compared with the paid ones. With PrintableCal, you may create and print any kind of calendar and include all your appointments and important events.
